The Class of 2017. What a year. From last August to this August, I have photographed many wonderful, inspiring, and unique individuals with whom I have been able to connect and talk about dreams, life plans, and capture a fleeting moment in their lives along the way; a time between adventures and phases that will not happen again. It’s that point at which one door is closing and another is opening, but both are still halfway open. That’s a big part of the beauty and magic of senior portraits. Cailyn was my final senior for the class of 2017, and her session and experience was a unique one that spanned the course of the entire summer.
We had scheduled a session for May, and I was excited to meet and photograph Cailyn in one of my favorite places. The day was looking promising: there were only a few clouds in the sky. As Florida weather would have it, though, it began to storm an hour before we were supposed to begin and it didn’t let up through the afternoon. Both of us had busy summers filled with plans and travel, so we set a date in July and planned for then. We met, it was raining, we captured a few fun images with umbrella in hand, and decided to wrap up the session on another, sunnier day. That day rolled around, it was storming from afternoon until evening, so we didn’t even bother. Another day was set for August, and we finally were able to get a dry day filled with beautiful light, and I absolutely love the images we captured.
Cailyn is a cool cat. She’s an artsy gal with a love for film, Disney, travel, and volleyball, and we connected straight away during her session. This fall she will be heading off to the Savannah College of Art and Design to major in Film & Television Production and minor in Advertisement and I’m absolutely thrilled to see what she accomplishes there. I am honored I was able to introduce her to the culinary heaven that is a Nutella, fresh fruit, and waffle sandwich from Sleepy Hollow in the Magic Kingdom, and we both agree that building forts and watching movies in said forts is a solid way to spend an evening. Cailyn, it was such a blast to hang out with you, and I can’t wait to see you go off and do amazing things at SCAD! I wish you all the best.
Enjoy the images.
Have a magical week, friends!
